ANNUAL SPORTS DAY AND FETE CELEBRATED IN ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL NEW CANTT
APS New Cantt Prayagraj celebrated Annual Sports Day and school Fete on 3rd December 2018 in the school premises with great exuberance. The chief guest of the occasion Brigadier RP Singh Deputy GOC Purva UP and MP Sub Area and MrsAmita Singh the Guest of honour graced the ceremony by their invaluable presence.
The Principal of the institution Mrs. Neena Shankar heartily welcomed the guests and the dignitaries. Thereafter reading out the annual report of the institution she proudly put forward the achievements and milestones reached in the session 2017-18.
The school established in 1996affiliated to CBSE has made an epic journey in itsendeavor to impart quality education with the motto “Every child is a winner”. The school aims at holistic development of each and every student. The program commenced with the colourful and rhythmic march past by the six houses of the school namely; CV Raman House, Guru Nanak House, APJ KalamHouse,Gandhi house, Pandit Nehru House and MaharanaPratap House followed by a soulful rendition of the school Anthem by the school choir. Thereafter the Chief Guest declared the sports meet open by lighting the torch. National Player MasterNeeraj Kumar of VIII A and Master Abhishek Kumar of XII A were the torch bearers.
The theme of the days program was sensitizing the students and gathered audience towards our culture, tradition and values of life. Keeping up our tradition the first cultural event was an invocation to the Lord through dance . 140 students of class VI and VII presented a group dance on’ Ganesh Vandana’ .
The Ganesh Vandana was followed by My India Clean India a colourful umbrella drill urging and inspiring everyone to keep our surroundings clean and contribute in the progress of the nation. It was presented by class l and ll of the primary wing next was the Namami Ganga drill by class lll and lV which was a beautifully synchronised yoga presentation enthralling the gathered audience. A pre vedic Indian tradition which is a group of mental, physical and spiritual practices or disciplines. It was followed by races’ Getting ready for school’ by primary section and 200m race by secondary section students
The next display was Zumba fitness makes one- smile drill by 202 students of class Vll and Vlll was a refreshing and rhythmic combination of dance and exercises for the body and the mind. Class V presented a colourful PT display “RangokibaharSanskriti Ki Pehchan” was followed by a PT display where 350 students of class Vl to Xl participated.The participants of various houses in their coloured uniform representing the six Houses of the school presented a glimpse of unity in diversity
The school upholds the cultural and traditional values of society along with imparting modern and progressive education. This was witnessed in a visually mesmerizing Garba dance presented by 110 girl students of classeslX and Xl. This brought to the close of the cultural items and was followed by retreating marchpast.The chief guest in his address to the gathered audience congratulated each and every one in the audience including the parents for the grandeur performance. He said “sports teaches us to face the challenges of life”. The events of the sports came to a close with the declaration of winners and the Prize Distribution Ceremony. Enthusiasm andfervour rose to the highest when CV Raman house bagged thewinners trophy. The runner –up trophy was bagged by Nanak House. Master Abhishek Kumar of XII D was declared the best athlete of the school among boys and Ms Meenaksi of IX A was declared the best athelete among girls.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the SchoolVice Principal Mr. NarendraPratap Singh who thanked everyone who helped in the success of the function. The School Choir sang the national anthem at the closing of the sports events as students and parents moved on to enjoy the school fete and exhibition of models.
